Kevin Haynes presents “Weathering the Storm: Hurricane Impact-Resistant Fenestration,” to the Central Florida Chapter of the Building Officials Association of Florida (BOAF) and the International Code Council (ICC). The BOAF is a nonprofit association of building code professionals. The ICC is a nonprofit association that provides a wide range of building safety solutions.

Those attending this AIA/CES course can earn 1.0 Learning Unit (LU), approved for health, safety and welfare (HSW) credit. This in-person event will be presented May 14, 9-11:30 a.m. EDT, at the Greater Orlando Builders Association (GOBA) offices, 1953 Clayton Heritage Way, Maitland FL 32751.

Kevin shares his knowledge as an architectural representative with Apogee Enterprises, Inc.’s Architectural Framing Systems segment, including Tubelite and EFCO brand products. These best-in-class building envelope solutions include hurricane impact-resistant, aluminum-framed storefront, curtain wall, entrance and window systems.

Participants who attend the educational presentation will learn about:

  • Applicable hurricane impact codes and standards
  • Hurricane protective glazing systems – glass types, framing systems, doors and hardware
  • Design criteria for impact resistant glazing – wall zones vs. corners, large and small missile, anchors and substrates
  • Hurricane impact testing and certification requirements
