RE: Are standard storefront doors tested for water resistance?
To all concerned,
Most storefront entrances are designed for high traffic and accessibility, and are not designed, tested, or rated for water resistance.
There are trade-offs when designing for water resistance that reduce an entrance’s accessibility and ability to handle high traffic.
To avoid water issues, commercial buildings are typically designed with overhangs or awnings to protect the entrances from rainfall.
